Paperwork submitted to the FCC for its regulatory approval shows that a radio broadcasting company led by veteran operator Tom Taggart and President Sam Yoho has agreed to sell a pair of West Virginia FMs to a local buyer.
WRRR-FM “R93” in St. Marys, W. Va., and its New Martinsville, W. Va., booster is being sold alongside Classic Rock WXCR-FM in New Martinsville to Hometown Media LLC by Yoho-led Seven Ranges Radio Company.
With Fletcher, Heald & Hildreth attorney Seth Williams serving as the seller’s legal counsel, Hometown Media — led by one-third owner Brandon Scott Northcroft — is agreeing to purchase the FM duo for $870,000.
A 10% earnest money deposit has been made by the buyer.
Hometown Media’s other one-third interest holders are Clay and Clinton Perkins.
The FM stations serve a community to the south of Wheeling, W. Va., and join Hometown-owned WCEF-FM in Ripley, W. Va., as stations it owns.
The WXCR call letters once belonged to a facility in Woodbridge, W. Va., serving the Washington, D.C., marketplace. Today, the station is Cumulus Media’s WMAL-FM.
