WXXI Spins FM Translator As Part of Spoken Word Upgrade

Until now, it has been associated with a Western New York NPR powerhouse. However, a recent upgrade for its Spoken Word facility allowed for a much-anticipated addition of a full-power FM signal to its group of stations.


With that $1.2 million transaction, WJZR-FM became WXXI-FM 105.9. And, that switch rendered the FM translator for simulcast partner WXXI-AM obsolete.

As such, WXXI Public Media has found a buyer for the 250-watt facility serving Irondequoit and northeastern Rochester, N.Y.
