WULK Walks Over To Wyche In Georgia Deal

Along Interstate 20 between Atlanta and Augusta, Ga., is the town of Crawfordville. That’s where a Class A station is trading hands. Interestingly, there’s a small connection to a deal filed two days ago with the FCC, and it involves someone with the surname Beasley.

For the sum of $45,000, Arthur Lyness is selling WULK-FM 94.7 in Crawfordville to Wyche Services Corp.

However, Lyness will not be giving up his operation of the station, as he’s struck an LMA with Wyche to continue operating WULK as his does today.

That’s good news for Randy Beasley.

He hosts the newscasts on WULK-FM “Lake Country 94.7” in Lake Oconee, Ga., a station that shares programming with WKZR-FM 102.3 in Milledgeville.

If that station sounds familiar, it is because Mr. Beasley on May 24 agreed to sell WKZR, along with WMVG-AM 1450 in Milledgeville, to Oconee Communications Co. for $25,425.

Oconee River Broadcasting, Oconee Communications Co., Southern Stone Broadcasting and Wyche Services Corporation all share common ownership.

For WULK, Wyche will employ Lyness and pay him a $600 monthly consulting fee so long as he remains employed by Wyche.

While an agreement between Wyche and Lyness was struck in October 2016, it was not filed with the FCC until May 26, 2017.
