After seven years as co-host of the “Ken and Tammy in the Morning” show on Saga’s WOXL-FM “Mix 96.5” Asheville, NC, Ken Ulmer is shifting to afternoon drive. To fill the slot, a new co-host is coming from Michigan.
Known by Asheville listeners as an admittedly imperfect husband and father who never stops trying to get it right, Ken has been with Mix 96.5 since 2003. In July 2011, after the arrival of his son, Ken decided it was necessary to become a full-time father and part-time radio host, and shifted to the Mix 96.5 afternoon show, the station announced.
“After years of leaving home at 3:00 am to prepare for the morning show, now I’m getting up to care for a crying baby who needs to fed and changed” Ken says, “so, in many ways, it’s very similar.”
Saga has filled the role in the morning show with new Program Director, Josh Strickland, calling it “Tammy & Strickland in the Morning.” Strickland hails from Lansing, Michigan where he hosted a #1 morning show for Citadel Communications in a top 100 market.
