NBC O&O WMAQ-TV Chicago and the Illinois High School Association (IHSA) announced a partnership that will bring the IHSA TV Network to WMAQ’s Chicago NonStop channel during the 2011-12 school year.

Chicago NonStop is NBC 5’s (WMAQ) digital Channel 5.2 and can also be seen on Comcast Channel 341, RCN Channel 50 and WOW Channel 130.

Under the deal, Chicago Non Stop will carry: The IHSA Football Playoff Pairing Show in October 2011; Eight IHSA Football State Championship games in November 2011; and 32 games of the IHSA Girls & Boys Basketball State Finals in February and March 2012.

“We are pleased to once again be able to provide our viewers with local high school sports programming,” said Frank Whittaker, Station Manager and Vice President of News of NBC 5 Chicago. “The IHSA’s partnership with WWWY Productions enables us to showcase some of the finest high school athletes across the viewing area.”

“We welcome the opportunity to continue our relationship with WMAQ and Chicago NonStop,” said IHSA Executive Director Marty Hickman.

The IHSA announced a television and Internet broadcasting partnership with Madison, WI-based When We Were Young Productions (WWWYP) in September 2010. The IHSA and WWWYP currently cover all IHSA sport state finals and select activities on www.ihsa.tv.
