He has served as President/GM of Hearst Television’s CBS affiliate in Kentucky’s largest market since 2008. In just a few months, he’ll be concluding a career that spans four decades — most of them with the privately held broadcasting company that’s owned this station since 1998.

Glenn Haygood will be retiring from the top post at WLKY-TV in Louisville, with his successor to be announced at a later date.

“Glenn has invested so much of himself into the Louisville community,” said Hearst Television President Michael J. Hayes. “For 18 years, he has led WLKY on a mission of service for viewers and advertisers. We are happy for Glenn and his family as they begin the next chapter in their lives and grateful for the contributions he has made to Hearst Television in Louisville and Winston-Salem.”

Prior to moving to WLKY, Haygood was General Sales Manager of WXII-TV, Hearst Television’s NBC affiliate in the Greensboro, N.C. DMA. It marked his return to the station, having served as Local Sales Manager between July 1995 and April 1998. In between those two stints, Haygood served as GM of WGPX-TV in Greenville (from 1998-2000). From March 1988 through July 1995, Haygood was Regional Sales Manager of WKMG-TV in Orlando.

“I’ve been incredibly blessed to work alongside such brilliant professionals at Hearst and WLKY,” said Haygood, a 1985 graduate of the University of Central Florida. “Together, we’ve strived to be more than just broadcasters—we’ve aimed to be a cornerstone of the Louisville community. My hope is that our collective work continues to serve and inspire long after my chapter here ends.”

WLKY became a Hearst Television station with the 1998 sale of Pulitzer’s broadcasting division. Prior owners including Sonderling Broadcasting (from 1967-1973), and Gannett (until 1983).
