If you scroll through the Afternoon Headlines E-mail from RBR+TVBR, you’ll see an advertisement from Saga Communications seeking a new leader for its radio stations in Ohio’s state capital.

On Thursday, details as to why Saga is hiring were shared by the company.

Erik Schmidt, President/General Manager of Saga’s “Columbus Radio Group,” is “stepping away from the organization.” The reason? “To spend more time with family and at some time in the future determine his next endeavor.”

It marks the end of 24 years at the station group, where he’s been in the sales department and later rose to Digital Sales Manager, and Director of Sales. With the promotion of Chris Forgy to a corporate leadership role, Schmidt ascended to the President/GM role in Columbus.

Speaking for the publicly traded company, Saga Senior VP of Operations Wayne Leland commented, ”We all appreciate Erik’s commitment and service to the Columbus Radio Group.”
