LAS VEGAS — On Monday, March 2, 2020, just days before COVID-19 arrived in North America, a radio station that was once one of the world’s most-listened-to facilities was officially handed to its new owner.
For $12.5 million, John Catsimatidis and his Red Apple Media completed its purchase of WABC-AM 770 in New York, a deal first announced in June 2019. Now, Catsimatidis is seeking to protect his investment from obsolescence by taking a front seat on the “Save AM Radio” bandwagon.
