Jimmy Farrell recently transferred to Hollywood, Fla., to serve as VP/Market Manager for the Cox Media Group properties serving the Miami-Fort Lauderdale market. Now, CMG has named Farrell’s successor five hours north via I-95, in Jacksonville.
Earning the role is Brian McGhee, the former Director of Sales for Urban One’s radio properties in Washington, D.C. In Jacksonville, he’ll direct the team and operations of a group of eight audio brands comprised of ESPN Radio affiliate WOKV-AM, News/Talk WOKV-FM, Alternative WOKV HD2 “X99.5,” Top 40 WAPE-FM, Classic Rock WJGL “96.9 The Eagle,” Hip-Hop WJGL HD2 “Power 106.1,” Adult R&B WHJX-FM “Hot 106.5,” and Adult Contemporary WEZI-FM “Easy 102.9.”
“Brian is a strong, people-centered leader with the right mix of sales expertise, operational discipline, and market vision,” CMG Radio President Rob Babin said. “He knows how to build high-performing teams, develop meaningful client relationships, and create momentum. Just as importantly, he leads with authenticity, accountability, and a real understanding of what local media can mean to audiences, advertisers, and communities. We’re excited to welcome him to Jacksonville and to CMG.”
McGhee headed up sales for the Radio One/Washington, D.C. stations from June 2023. Previously, he served as a Rockford, Ill., Market President for Townsquare Media, rising from Director of Sales. Before that, he was General Sales Manager of iHeartMedia in Chicago.
“I’m honored to join CMG and to lead the Jacksonville Radio team,” McGhee said. “CMG has an outstanding reputation for strong local brands, talented people, and meaningful service to audiences and advertisers. I’m excited to build on that foundation, work alongside this team, and help drive continued growth in Jacksonville.”
