WIL breaking Komen Race for the Cure record

Hubbard Broadcasting’s Country WIL-FM St. Louis is doing it again with another major local event. This time, more than 7,600 participants in 2011 St. Louis Komen Race for the Cure will be wearing the distinctive red “Team Breadbird” T-shirts, as 92.3 WIL morning show host Cornbread – with the support of the St. Louis Cardinals and Fred Bird (the official mascot for the Cardinals) – leads the Team Breadbird supporters as they shatter the record for the largest team in Komen Race for the Cure history.

WIL PD Greg Mozingo tells RBR-TVBR The “Team Breadhead” movement began in 2005 when Cornbread arrived at WIL-FM: “That first year 1,800 people signed up to walk with Cornbread and the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. The Team has steadily grown since, hitting 6,600 in 2010. This year we partnered with the St. Louis Cardinals – Team Breadhead became Team Breadbird – and another record of 7,606 was achieved. I credit the WIL listeners who are passionate about this cause as well as other charity and community endeavors. They are always there and truly make a difference in St. Louis.”

It all takes place Saturday, 6/12 7:30 am-12:00pm in Downtown St. Louis.
