WIBC team wins at the Brickyard

Before the race cars hit the track for Sunday’s Indianapolis 500, 10 media teams competed Thursday (5/26) in a competition to prove that even reporters can turn a lug-nut. Emmis Communications’ WIBC-FM Indianapolis emerged victorious.


The WIBC news team won $5000 for their charity of choice, Salvation Army of Central Indiana, by winning the 2011 American Family Insurance 500 Festival Media Pit Stop Competition. The competition has been a staple of the American Family Insurance Community Day at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the past 10 years. 

The WIBC pit crew team consisted of Reed Parker, Denny Smith, Joe Ulery and Dan McGowan as two left front tire changers and two right front tire changers. Teams competed using a single-seat show car. The Media Pit Stop Competition.
