GavelAn FM translator auction site is set to go live on Wednesday, Dec. 2.

Ronald Unkefer’s First Ventures Capital Partners is making its inventory of 25+ translators available on FMtranslatorauction.com.

Minimum bids start at $25,000.

Asked why he created the site, Unkefer tells RBR+TVBR “Rather than use eBay, we created this site so that it could be easy to use for broadcasters and also include everything relevant to an FM Translator purchase. The site include FCC links, relocation coverage area maps for each FM Translator, general FM translator information and even a short form standardized asset purchase agreement.”

Overall, the site is designed to make what he calls “low cost but high value FM Translators” easy to acquire either through the short auction process or at ‘buy now’ prices.”

Under the FCC’s new AM revitalization Order, owners of Class C or D AMs would be able to buy and then move an existing commercial FM translator anywhere within a 250-mile radius to simulcast their current AM station location.

The site is now in “preview” mode. The auction begins at 9 a.m. Central Dec. 2 and ends at 5 p.m. Central Dec. 9.
