Travel east of Ames, Iowa, and you’ll reach Marshalltown. Here, a Class A digital television station is being sold.
The buyer? It’s the company that owns the CBS affiliate in Milwaukee, and the CW affiliate in Chicago — among many other enterprises, including the “MeTV” brand.
MTN Broadcasting has agreed to the sale of its KDAO-CD in Marshalltown, Iowa to Weigel Broadcasting, through its TV-49 Inc.
The facility is branded as “Marshalltown’s Local Station,” and is a sibling to Adult Contemporary KDAO-FM and “Good Time Oldies” KDAO-AM and K279AN in Marshalltown.
Weigel is grabbing the TV property for $195,000; a $9,750 escrow deposit has been made to MTN.
There is no broker or finder associated with this transaction, which saw the seller’s legal counsel as Matthew McCormick of Fletcher Heald & Hildreth and the buyer’s counsel as Matt Delnero of Covington & Burley.
KDAO presently features programming from the Retro TV network. Under Weigel ownership, this will undoubtedly be discontinued, with MeTV Network programming the likely replacement.
Below is a graphic supplied by KDAO of where its over-the-air signal can be viewed.
