Week 35: NBC's 'The Voice' ranked #4 among all primetime programs

Led this week by “The Voice” and the season finale of “The Office,” NBC averaged a 1.8 rating, 5 share in adults 18-49 and 5.4 million viewers overall for the week of May 16-22. 
 
In a week in which series season finales figured prominently in the upper tier of the weekly rankings, “The Voice” ranked #4 among all primetime programs for the week in adults 18-49.


“The Voice” ranked among the top 10 programs of the week in every key demographic measure – adults, men and women 18-49; adults, men and women 18-34; and adults, men and women 25-54 – as well as among teens 12-17 and kids 2-11. 

Through four telecasts, “The Voice” is the season’s #1 new series in adults 18-49 and ranks behind only “American Idol” among all entertainment series on ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox and CW.

Also ranking among the top programs of the week in adults 18-49 were “The Office” (#7), “The Celebrity Apprentice” (#19, tied) and “The Biggest Loser” and “Law & Order: SVU” (#21, tied).

Among adults 18-34, the season finale of “The Office” was the #2 primetime program of the week, trailing only the Wednesday edition of “American Idol.” 

“The Voice” ranked #4 in that demo, behind only “The Office” and the two editions of “Idol.” Also ranking among the top programs of the week in adults 18-34 were the Thursday 10 p.m. telecast of “Parks and Recreation” (#15), the 10:30 p.m. “Parks and Recreation” (#18) and “The Biggest Loser” and “Law & Order: SVU” (tied at #19).

Primetime averages for the week of May 16-22 in adults 18-49 were Fox (3.0/9), ABC (2.4/7), CBS (2.0/6), NBC (1.8/5) and CW (0.7/2).  In overall total viewers the weekly averages were CBS (10.1 million), Fox (8.9 million), ABC (8.7 million), NBC (5.4 million) and CW (1.5 million).

Through Sunday, May 22, with 25 nights of the 28-night Nielsen May 2011 sweep measured, sweep averages in adults 18-49 are: Fox (2.8/8), ABC (2.3/7), CBS (2.1/6), NBC (1.8/5) and CW (0.8/2).  In total viewers, the 25-night May sweep averages are CBS (9.9 million), ABC (8.5 million), Fox (8.2 million), NBC (5.4 million) and CW (1.8 million).

In the May sweep to-date, NBC’s “The Voice” is the #3 ranked primetime program in adults 18-49, behind only the two editions of “American Idol,” and “The Office” ranks #5 (tied).  Among adults 18-34, “The Office” ranks #2 sweeps-to-date and “The Voice” ranks #3, behind only the Wednesday edition of “Idol.”
