Week 1: Univision delivers another solid week in 18-49 demo

Univision was the #1 network for the fourth consecutive Friday among Adults 18-49 and for the 26th consecutive Friday night among Adults 18-34. Univision’s entire primetime line-up ranked as the top 3 programs for the night among Adults 18-34.


“Teresa ranked as the #1 program for the second consecutive Friday night among Adults 18-49(2.7 Million) and Adults 18-34 (1.5 Million).

“La Fuerza del Destino” was the #2 program among Adults 18-34 (1.3 Million) and #4 among Adults 18-49 (2.3 Million). “La Fuerza del Destino” delivered more Adults 18-49 viewers than the entire line-ups on FOX (“Kitchen Nightmares” and “Fringe”) and CW (“Nikita” and “Supernatural”) as well as ABC’s “20/20” and the premieres of CBS’ “A Gifted Man” and “CSI: NY.”

The #3 ranked program among Adults 18-34 was Univision’s “Rosa de Guadalupe.”  The program also ranked among the top ten for the night among Adults 18-49

Univision out-delivered one or more of the English-language broadcast networks (ABC, CBS, NBC or FOX) on five out of seven nights last week among Adults 18-34. Thus far in 2011, Univision is the #2 broadcast network in this demographic, averaging more Adults 18-34 viewers than ABC (+2%), CBS (+17%), and NBC (+11%).

From 8PM to 9PM airing “Teresa”, Univision ranked as the #3 broadcast network for the week among Adults 18-34. “Teresa” achieved its best weekly performance since its debut on 03/30/2011 among Total Viewers 2+ (4.9 million), Adults 18-49 (2.8 million), and Adults 18-34 (1.7 million).

 On the highly competitive Thursday night, Univision’s primetime line-up posted audience increases among all key demographics compared to last Thursday. Positioned within the top 20 programs for the entire night among Adults 18-49 were “Teresa” (#9), “La Fuerza Del Destino” (#11) and “Mujeras Asesinas” (#16).

“Mujeras Asesinas” posted double digit audience gains compared to the prior week among Total Viewers 2+ (+30%), Adults 18-49 (+39%), and Adults 18-34 (+22%).

“Aqui Y Ahora” continues to strengthen its position during the 10PM hour on Tuesday night. Featuring the kidnapping of Eduardo Garcia-Valseca, Aqui Y Ahora  delivered more Total Viewers 2+ (+7%, 3 million) and posted double digit gains among Adults 18-49 (+14%, 1.7 million) and Adults 18-34 (+27%, 957,000) compared to the prior week.

At 10pm on Wednesday night Univision aired the first original documentary from Documentales Univision,  “Noticias Univision Presenta: Documentales Univision Infiltrados” The documentary provided an inside look at the personal experiences of  the DIPOL (Dirección de Inteligencia de la Policía Nacional) agents and the Colombian national police participating in undercover missions that led to “Operación  Fénix” and “Operación Sodoma”). 

The special delivered an average audience of 2.5 million Total Viewers 2+, 1.4 million Adults 18-49, and 674,000 Adults 18-34 and finished within the top 15 Programs among Adults 18-49 and Adults 18-34.

The documentary also attracted more Adult 18-34 viewers than the second season premiere of “Harry’s Law” on NBC and out-delivered CW’s entire line-up consisting of first-run episodes of “H8R” and “America’s Next Top Model” among all Viewers 2+, Adults 18-34, Adults 18-49 and Persons 12-34.

On Saturday night Univision’s “Sabado Gigante” (Giant Saturday) ranked among the top 10 programs for the night among both Adults 18-49(903,000) and Adults 18-34 (412,000) viewers.

Univision’s dance competition “”¡Mira Quién Baila!” increased its audience Sunday night, delivering more Total Viewers 2+ (4 Million), Adults 18-49 (2.2 Million), and Adults 18-34 (1.1 Million) compared to the prior week.
