He’s enjoyed a career in media that dates to 1969. At the end of 2023, he’ll be calling it a day by saying farewell to his Morris Multimedia colleagues in Chattanooga.
Phil Cox is retiring as General Manager of WDEF-12 in Chattanooga.
But, that won’t happen until December 31, 2023, putting the CBS affiliate in a long-term quest to find Cox’s successor.
Cox has been associated with WDEF since 2006. He joined Morris Multimedia in 2001 by taking the GM role for WXXV-25 in Biloxi-Gulfport, Miss. Cox also held that role for WWAY-TV in Wilmington, N.C.
Cox has served as Chairman of the Tennessee Association of Broadcasters, President of Alabama Broadcasters Association and as a board member for Mississippi Association or Broadcasters.
The plan after retirement is to relocate to Montgomery, Ala., to be closer to family.
