NEW YORK — With the loss of “Newsradio 880” and its closure by Audacy Inc., there’s a little less financial news on Gotham’s radio dial, aside from Bloomberg’s flagship WBBR-AM 1130. The spoken word operation owned by John Catsimatidis is changing that, with twice-daily weekday reports being added to the lineup.
Coming to WABC-AM 770 and its simulcast partners in Rockland County, N.Y., and on New York’s Long Island is Red Apple AM/PM Market Reports, hosted by financial and business analysis expert John Terrett.
He will be heard during morning and afternoon drive times and deliver “concise market intelligence from one of the most respected names in financial circles,” bringing content not found on local television morning news programs.
“More than ever before, listeners need clarity on what’s happening on Wall Street,” said Catsimatidis, Owner and CEO of WABC Radio parent Red Apple Media. “John (Terrett) has been a guest on my Sunday program, The Cats Roundtable, many times, and his exceptional understanding of the financial world arms listeners with the knowledge they need to make smart financial decisions.”
A spokesperson tells RBR+TVBR the financial reports are also available to other stations via the Red Apple Audio Networks.
Terett, whose resume includes stints with CNBC, the BBC and Al Jazeera America, commented, “I am delighted to join the Red Apple family and look forward to reaching listeners across America with valuable insights that will help them maximize their investments,” said Terrett. “I want to thank John (Catsimatidis) for this wonderful opportunity.”
Terrett has spent the best part of the last eight years reporting from the trading floor of the New York Stock Exchange. However, as the New York Post reported, he was fired in March 2025 from Beijing-controlled CGTN after yelling, “Get Out of My Shot!,” to a NYSE employee.
