Mud Radio was just over one month late with its license renewal application. Why? It was due to an “inadvertent oversight.” Now, the Audio Division Chief of the FCC’s Media Bureau is willing to resolve the matter with a Consent Decree. And, it sees the licensee of a Vermont FM pay a civil penalty to the U.S. Treasury to wipe its slate clean.
The matter involves WMUD-FM in Brandon, Vt., a property the Chip Morgan-led Mud Radio agreed to buy in December 2022 for a total price of $30,000.
WMUD’s license renewal application was due on January 2, 2025. But, it was not filed until February 6. Rather than move forward with a potential Notice of Apparent Liability for Forfeiture, Mud Radio and Al Shuldiner agreed to a Consent Decree to ensure future compliance with the FCC’s rules.
Importantly, Mud Radio will write a check in the amount of $2,250 to the U.S. Treasury.
This terminates all pending proceedings against WMUD-FM, formerly WEXP-FM, which serves the Rutland, Vt., listening area.
