For 18 years, she has been associated with Univision Radio, rising through ranks to become VP/GM of radio stations in San Diego, Las Vegas, El Paso, McAllen-Brownsville and Albuquerque. Following the sale of El Paso and Albuquerque stations by the former Univision Communications, she took on the role of President and Regional Radio GM for the remaining markets.

Now, Sabina Widmann is concluding her tenure at TelevisaUnivision.

Widmann, who joined Univision in May 2005 following a 17-month tenure as an Account Executive for iHeartMedia predecessor Clear Channel Radio, shared the news via LinkedIn on Friday.

Quoting Elizabeth Edwards, Widmann shared:

“She stood in the storm, and when the wind did not blow her way, she adjusted her sails.”

Widmann then revealed that her position as President and Regional Radio Manager had been eliminated.

Speaking of her experience, Widmann said, “The professional growth, experience and the leadership positions I have held at Univision have prepared me well for my next chapter. I will always appreciate the amazing relationships I’ve built over the past 18 years. My teams in McAllen, Las Vegas and San Diego are incredible and working alongside them in recent years has been the highlight of my career.”

Widmann represented TelevisaUnivision on the executive committees of both the the Radio Advertising Bureau (RAB) and Southern California Broadcasters Association (SCBA). In 2022, she joined the board for San Diego Youth Services.

“I have become a strong leader consistently over delivering on revenue targets while building strong and healthy teams,” Widmann continued. In March Widmann was recognized within TelevisaUnivision as being a #mujerinspiradora, being described as “a relentless force, breaking records and opening the doors for others.”

Now, Widmann is “excited to explore new opportunities where I can use my 20+ years of media experience … One of my main passions is helping clients connect to the Hispanic Consumer. Thank you in advance for any connections, advice or opportunities you can offer. The best is yet to come!”

Widmann is a 2023 Medallas de Cortez finalist for General or Market Manager of the Year. She is also a 2021 Radio Wayne winner, largely for her efforts associated with “Qué Buena 106.5” and “Amor 102.9” in San Diego.

Sabina Widmann participated in an InFOCUS interview in April 2019 with Adam R Jacobson, RBR+TVBR’s Editor-in-Chief, ahead of that year’s Hispanic Radio Conference. The conversation can be found here.
