Veritone, an “AI” company known for its Artificial Intelligence Platform, has inked a first-of-its-kind partnership with an industry leader in streaming media services.

The partnership could transform broadcast management and analytics of streaming audio, as the AI platform used by Veritone captures and analyzes audio for key words — something that could give native advertising and integrated marketing a boost. It could also inspire radio stations to use the technology for their own initiatives.

The agreement sees Orange County, Calif.-based Veritone partner up with TuneIn, one of the world’s most commonly accessed audio streaming networks.

TuneIn The agreement provides TuneIn a license to Veritone’s Cognitive Media Platform (CMP), enabling it to index, analyze, search and share TuneIn’s owned-and-operated content.

The Veritone platform provides near real-time, AI-based media capture, indexing and search capabilities to clients in the media, sports and broadcast industries.

As an audio streaming network with a global reach in more than 230 countries and territories, TuneIn offers more than 100,000 live radio stations and 5.7 million on-demand programs, from podcasts to audiobooks.

With the 2015 launch of its Premium subscription service, TuneIn has ramped up its sports content offerings by securing partnerships with the NFL, NBA, MLB and NHL for carriage of live game broadcasts.

These partnerships sparked the launch of three original programs by TuneIn: “NFL No Huddle,” “1st & Goal,” and “MLB on TuneIn LIVE.”

Growing awareness of these new brands will come via the use of the Veritone technology, TuneIn Director/Content Operations Andrew Bock said. “Veritone’s platform is revolutionary for us,” he noted. “It offers a more efficient way to store, utilize and share our content on a larger scale, which will allow us to better meet the needs of our customers.”

Veritone President Ryan Steelberg added, “Our partnership with TuneIn is significant and groundbreaking for us, as it marks our first streaming customer. We are excited to provide market leaders like TuneIn with the ability to analyze their media at scale and in near real-time, freeing them from legacy workflows so they can focus on content creation and revenue generation.”
