In late 2018, New Mexico radio broadcasting company Vanguard Media attracted attention at the height of the Soft Adult Contemporary “Breeze” rollout at various corporate-controlled stations across the U.S.
The company led by Don Davis used the brand for a Smooth Jazz format airing on Santa Fe, N. Mex., stations, and to protect the city of Grants, N. Mex., from any brand encroachment Vanguard began simulcasting his “Breeze” on an FM in the city.
Now, Davis is cementing the brand in Grants by gaining full ownership through Vanguard of the Class C3 facility.
From the top of La Mosca Lookout, KSFE-FM 96.7 in Grants is reportedly offering Soft AC programming.
Whatever transpires is wholly up to Davis and to Vanguard. That’s because Royal Diversified Industries is selling KSFE to Vanguard.
The seller is led by Utah-based Arthur Brooks, and his company has allowed Vanguard to operate KSFE.
The sale price as shown in the Asset Purchase Agreement filed with the FCC is $375,000.
The outright acquisition of KSFE comes following the April 2019 acquisition of KDLW-FM “Z106.3” in Los Lunas, N. Mex., a Top 40 station serving the Albuquerque market.
Tom Bozzuto of Greenbelt, Md., and his BB Broadcasting sold KDLW for $850,000.
