After 25 years of government, higher education, and corporate public relations, he founded a full-service strategic communications and stakeholder engagement firm based in Washington, D.C.

His radio experience includes an early career role as GM of Northeastern University’s radio station.

Now, he’s the VP/Corporate Communications for Urban One.

Getting the newly created role is Tony Robinson, a former District of Columbia Administrator who in the past directed public affairs campaigns and provided counsel to the Mayor of Washington, D.C.

That was well after his time at Class D WRBB-FM 104.9, which is Northeastern’s Boston-area radio station.

He transitioned from there to a role at Northeastern’s Office of Communications and thereafter served in similar media relations positions at Johns Hopkins and at American University, bringing him to Washington for the first time.

Robinson is also known as the founder of Robinson Public Affairs LLC.

“Tony’s long history of working with executive leadership to provide strategic messaging and comprehensive communications strategy for corporate clients and public officials will help us better tell our story to a wider variety of audiences,” said Karen Wishart, Chief Administrative Officer of Urban One.
