On Monday, TRANSACTIONS TODAY reported on the sale of a radio station serving the Nashville market by The Moody Bible Institute of Chicago.
It turns out TRANSACTIONS TODAY mixed up the call letters of the station Moody is selling with another facility serving Music City. Here’s the corrected information on this deal.
The facility Moody is selling is Class D WFCM-AM 710 in Smyrna, Tenn., just southeast of Nashville with 250 watts from 1 tower. It is using presently-dark W234DF at 94.7 MHz in Smyrna for some “AM revitalization,” and presently airs Moody Radio’s Christian Talk & Teaching programming.
That’s about to change, as Iglesia Misionera Jesucristo Viene Pronto Inc. is acquiring the AM and its translator and will change the station’s language while keeping the mission intact: A Spanish-language ministerial format is on the way.
The Iglesia (Spanish for “Church”) is paying $125,000 for WFCM; a 10% escrow deposit has been made to the seller. It is headed by Edwin Mendoza, and this deal marks his entry into radio station ownership.
Also included in the Form 314 filing made Monday with the FCC is a real estate purchase agreement reflecting the sale of 5.6 acres and a non-exclusive ingress/egress easement located at 1443 Rock Springs Road in Smyrna, Tenn. Consideration is $100,000, with a 10% escrow deposit made for the land with agent White & Polk.
Buying the land is Alejandro Rosales Becerra, who is not listed as a party associated with Iglesia Misionera.
