Univision details Hurricane Irene coverage

Univision has put some info together on their cross-platform coverage of Irene. This included ongoing news briefs, special editions at the network and local level in collaboration with NY, Raleigh and Philadelphia stations; across interactive with online coverage on UnivisionNoticias.com (special hurricane section), UnivisionNuevaYork.com TV and radio sites, and mobile alerts; across social media via Univision’s Facebook and Twitter platforms through the main Univision, News and local stations accounts.


Reports range from the hurricane’s path to how to prepare for emergencies to the developments with the cities affected.

Network:
Special editions and news briefs with Univision News anchors Satcha Pretto and Felix de Bedout; on site reporting from North Carolina with Ilia Calderon and Natalia Cruz; reports from NY with Blanca Rosa Vilchez, Nayeli Chavez and also with Ilia on Sunday from NY; and segments with meteorologist Eduardo Rodriguez.

North Carolina
WUVC Univision 40 featured 1-minute cut-ins throughout the weekend and covered the hurricane on the station’s 6pm and 11pm local newscasts (on Friday). WUVC Univision 40’s public affairs show, Vida Carolina, focused on hurricane safety (Saturday at 11:30am and 6pm). Univision 40 news anchor Jaime Zea and co-anchor Edwin Pitti contributed to reporting for the Network.
