United Stations Radio Networks announced the promotion of Margaret Verghese to the newly created role of Vice President/Comedy and Prep Services. She’s been serving as the company’s Managing Director of Pulse Content, its successful division that provides prep services, talent tours and web content to affiliates coast to coast. In her new role, Verghese will also lead the creative team that generates the dozens of comedy services produced by USRN. This promotion is effective immediately and this announcement comes from the company’s President/COO, Jim Higgins.
Margaret Verghese has been with USRN and based at the company’s New York headquarters since 2001. She began as an executive assistant and quickly developed responsibilities within the company’s successful comedy division acting as a specialized liaison between affiliates and the comedy writers and producers. She was elevated to a manager in USRN’s Comedy division, but soon found herself taking on responsibility for the company’s large and popular prep services division which is currently known as Pulse Content (that division was originally known as the Launch Radio Networks when it was acquired by USRN from Yahoo!, Inc., in early 2003). Verghese was named Managing Director of that division in late 2009 which gave her supervision of a staff of the dozen full-time writers and producers who generate the company’s format-specific prep services and its related content.
In making the announcement, Jim Higgins commented, “Margaret has been single-handedly responsible for much of the growth in both our comedy product and our prep services over the years, and this appointment is well deserved. She is a tireless executive who brings creativity and dedication to her efforts every single day, and we’re thrilled to hand the reigns of these important areas of content creation over to her.”
