Now Ahn Board At Univision

Newly appointed Univision Communications CEO Vincent Sadusky has wasted no time  putting his imprint on a swift plan of action to save what many market observers have labeled a sinking ship stranded in the middle of a turbid Spanish-language media sea.

Univision has a new President of Content Distribution and Partnerships. It’s an Asian American who exits a similar role at Scripps Networks Interactive.

That would be Henry Ahn, who was President/Content Distribution and Marketing at Scripps from October 2011, when he joined the company following a 17-year stint at NBCUniversal as EVP/TV Networks Distribution. He’ll be based in Univision’s Doral, Fla., operations centre.

Univision says Ahn will play “a critical role” in helping the beleaguered company forge distribution agreements for all Univision services.

That includes the company’s ongoing retransmission fee dispute with Dish Network, which has become ugly and a battle of bitter barbs.

Sadusky calls Ahn “one of the most respected and accomplished distribution executives in our industry today.  This, coupled with his deep understanding of the content business and his honest and straightforward negotiating style, will ensure that Univision partners with MVPDs and digital platforms to deliver our highly-consumed original content to the largest U.S. Hispanic audience.”
