Two Years Later, A French Lick FM Gets A Reworked Deal

In December 2023, RBR+TVBR first reported on the proposed transfer of control of a Class A FM radio station in a small Indiana city made famous by legendary basketball star Larry Bird. Now, FCC documentation shows the original deal has been revised, with the seller agreeing to a reduced price.

Willtronics Broadcasting, led by William Gerald Willis and Catherine H. Willis, is still selling WFLQ-FM 100.1 in French Lick, Ind., to Pivotal Opportunities LLC, led by Christopher Scott Ruth and Erica Ruth.

However, a new asset purchase agreement dated October 23, 2025 and submitted Monday for FCC regulatory approval shows Pivotal will pay $385,000 for the station. That’s a change from a $415,000 purchase price originally agreed to by the parties.

And, instead of making a $45,000 escrow deposit, a $20,000 initial payment has been made. Remaining the legal counsel in this transaction is Paoli, Ind., law firm Tucker & Tucker.

WFLQ signed on the air in April 1983, and today airs a Country format. And, like many small-town radio stations, is a home for “Tradio,” an on-air swap shop.
