Irene can claim two AMs off the air due to flooding: New York Public Radio’s WNYC AM820 is off air due to flooding at its New Jersey transmitter site: “You can continue to hear WNYC on FM93.9, at WNYC.org and at NJPublicRadio.org,” the website confirms. RBR-TVBR spoke with Steve Schultis, WNYC Chief Technology Officer, about what happened and what they’re doing to get the stations back on the air. Listen to the audio, above.

Also, Salem Communications’ WMCA confirms with RBR-TVBR they are also currently off-air. The two AMs broadcast from the same transmitter site.
