Two for one swap in Traverse City area

DealNo cash is changing hands in a deal on the north end of Michigan’s mitt. But three FM stations are. The deal involves Northern Star Broadcasting and Michigan Broadcasters.


Michigan Broadcasters will be getting WOEZ-FM Mackinaw City and WAVC-FM Mio in exchange for WYPV-FM Onaway MI.

All three stations are Class C2 facilities. The two going to Michigan Broadcasters have duopoly overlap and will be the company’s only stations in the market. Northern Star has numerous stations in the area, and WYPV will have similar contours with two – WCBY-AM and WQEZ-FM Cheboygan; and overlap with two more –WGFM-FM Cheboygan and WMKC-FM Indian River.
