‘Truth That Rocks’: A Rocking CCM FM Gets Joyful Sale

Joy Broadcasting has carved a niche in the Christian Contemporary Music (CCM) world with a hard rock format steeped in Christ-themed songs from acts such as Big Daddy Weave.

Now, the Class A noncomm serving as the main home for what is branded as “Truth That Rocks” is being sold.

Set to become the new licensee of WXGN-FM 90.5 in Egg Harbor Township, N.J., a 500-watt facility reaching Ocean City — but not Atlantic City, to the north — is Hope Christian Church of Marlton.

That is the licensee of WWFP-FM in Brigatine, WZBL-FM in Barnegat Light, and WVBV-FM in Medford Lakes, N.J., in addition to a stable of FM translators.

WVBV is the home of “Hope FM” — simulcast on the two other stations.

Now, WXGN is poised to become a Hope FM member station, too.

A $100,000 purchase agreement was agreed upon February 24; it was not filed with the FCC until April 7.

A $5,000 escrow deposit has been made; the remainder will be paid in cash at closing.

Joy Broadcasting is headed by William Link and President Robert Green.

Truth That Rocks dates to 2001, and also uses WXRU-LPFM 101.1 in Cape May Courthouse, N.J., and WRWL-LPFM 107.7 in Galloway, N.J.

It was not known at RBR+TVBR‘s deadline on April 8 if the low-powered stations will continue as broadcast homes for Truth That Rocks.
