Townsquare’s Southern Tier Leader Is Selected

It’s the home of a major state university and includes such neighboring cities as Johnson City and Vestal. And, it is a locale of Townsquare Media-owned radio stations and local digital properties serving New York’s Southern Tier.

As of today, the Townsquare operation has a new Market President, rising from Director of Sales.

Earning the promotion is Mary Beth Walsh, with the news shared by Townsquare via a Tweet made June 13. She reports to RVP Matt Kiger, who tweeted, “Mary Beth is a beacon in the community and leads our efforts with all the key agencies and advertisers and is a total difference maker for our team and company.”

Walsh is a bit familiar with the stations in Nielsen Audio market No. 196, comprised of top-rated Country WHWK-FM 98.1 “The Hawk”; Top 40 WWYL-FM “Kiss 104.1”; News/Talk WNBF-AM 1290 and its FM translator at 92.1 MHz; WYOS “CBS Sports Radio 1360”; and heritage Rocker WAAL-FM 99.1 “The Whale.” That’s because she served as Market Manager for the properties under Citadel Broadcasting, and through that company’s merger with Cumulus Media. Walsh also stayed through the transition in ownership of the cluster to Townsquare.

Walsh is from the Southern Tier, and is a Broome Community College alum who began in radio in 1992 at the former Stoner Broadcasting, later working for American Radio Systems. She then spent time with Wicks Broadcasting before joining Citadel.

Walsh succeeds Barbara DeGonzaque Meaney, who became Director of Sales and Client Success for Citadel’s Syracuse properties due north on I-81. She had been leading Townsquare Media’s Binghamton stations since January 2016.
