Tom Troland Sheds a Moab Translator

Tom Troland has gained attention in recent years for his partnership with Michael Mallace and for his role as the head of RedRock Media Group, the entity that wished to spin an Oldies FM in Grand Junction, Colo., to the owner of a local daily newspaper.

Today, Troland is in the news for his decision to shed an FM translator serving the popular outdoor enthusiast hub of Moab, Utah.

The translator, K268AV, is at 101.5 MHz in Moab and had been simulcasting KBDX-FM “Redrock 92.7,” an Oldies station that Troland in February 2020 agreed to spin to the owner of a non-daily newspaper in Blanding, Utah.

K268AV is being sold for $3,000, to Sariah Hillam.

Who’s that? A decade ago, the Provo, Utah, resident was profiled in a local bike riding blog for her love of cycling. That could explain her love for Moab, an off-road cycling and BMX rider’s dream locale.

Her husband, Dr. David Hillam, specializes in hormone replacement therapy, wellness medicine, weight loss, and anti-aging medicine.

Moab sits at the entrance to Arches National Park, and is a three-hour drive to the south of Provo.
