Todd Parkin Strikes Again: Grabs Seven Imagicomm Properties

On March 11, RBR+TVBR readers were reintroduced to Todd Parkin, who in February 2011 owned broadcast television stations in Savannah, Ga.; and Youngstown, Ohio, and had just agreed to purchase a Topeka, Kansas, property.

In a deal that caught some industry observers off-guard, Parkin struck a multi-million deal to buy five TV stations from Sinclair Inc. Now, it appears Parkin’s Rincon Broadcasting Group is already expanding its under-construction stable, thanks to a second deal that saw Kalil & Co. serve as the strategic advisor.

Rincon has agreed to purchase the following properties from David Cerullo-led Imagicomm Communications:

  • KAYU-28 in Spokane
  • KFFX-11 in Pendleton, Ore., and simulcast partner KCYU-LD 41 in Yakima, Wash.
  • KYMA-11 in Yuma, Ariz.-El Centro, Calif.
  • KOKI-23 and KMYT-41 in Tulsa
  • WHBQ-13 in Memphis

Terms and the purchase price were not immediately disclosed by Kalil & Co.

The transaction with Rincon is the second announced deal to come from Imagicomm since it confirmed on January 15 that it intends to sell all of its broadcast TV stations. Imagicomm became a broadcast TV station owner after it agreed to purchase properties Cox Media Group was required by federal regulators to sell, on the grounds that controlling interest partner Apollo Global Management’s proposed stake in TEGNA — a now ill-fated transaction that would have seen Standard General become its controlling equity interest holder — would have been above current national ownership reach limits had the sales not been made.

On January 16, Marquee Broadcasting, led on a day-to-day basis by COO Gene Steinberg and owned by Brian and Patricia Lane, entered into a definitive agreement with Imagicomm to purchase longtime NBC affiliate KIEM-3 and CBS-affiliated sibling KVIQ-17 in Eureka-Arcata, Calif.; and two stations in nearby Medford-Ashland-Grants Pass, Ore.: FOX affiliate KMVU-26 and Telemundo-aligned KFBI-48.

That leaves Imagicomm properties in Alexandria, La. (KLAX-31); Binghamton (WICZ-40) and Syracuse, N.Y. (WSYT-68); Idaho Falls, Idaho (KPVI-6); and Greenville, Miss. stations WABG (ABC), WABG-HD2 (FOX), WNBD (NBC), and WXVT (CBS), on the block. All are properties once owned by Brian Brady and his Northwest Broadcasting.

For Parkin, the Imagicomm stations will be paired with, pending FCC regulatory approval and the deal’s close, with WVTV-TV “CW18” in Milwaukee; WICS-TV “ABC 20” in Springfield, Ill., and semi-satellite WICD-TV in Champaign-Urbana, Ill.; KHQA-TV in Hannibal, Mo., which broadcasts on Channel 7 as a dual ABC and CBS affiliate serving Quincy, Ill.; and KTVO-TV in Ottumwa, Iowa, which also serves Kirksville, Mo., on Channel 3 as a dual ABC and CBS affiliate.

Parkin is a former Bally Sports sales executive, holding the role of Senior Vice President of Sports Operations. He managed the RSNs, rising from Vice President of Ad Sales, Pricing and Strategy at Ballys. Before that, Parkin worked at MGM Studios as Senior Vice President of Domestic Networks. From 2009 to 2013, Parkin was CEO of PBC Broadcasting, a company he acquired and grew under his leadership.

Parkin in January 2025 was named VP of Growth and Managing Director of Media at Think, a Baltimore-based consultancy. In taking the role, Parkin was tasked with oversight and expansion of the company’s media consulting services division, specializing in advising media networks including broadcast and sports networks, streaming companies and studios.
