TNT's 'Rizzoli & Isles' coming up; "I Kissed a Girl" (episodes)

With 7.1 million viewers, Rizzoli & Isles currently ranks as cable’s #1 new series for the year-to-date.  The July 12 premiere of Rizzoli & Isles was watched by 7.6 million viewers and holds the record as cable’s #1 commercial-supported series launch of all time.


“I Kissed a Girl” – Monday, Aug. 16, at 10 p.m. (ET/PT) – TV-14-DLSV
Jane and Maura investigate what appears to be a hate crime: the brutal assault and murder of a young professional woman leaving a lesbian bar.  When they run out of leads, Jane goes undercover, hoping to lure the woman’s killer out.  Off the job, Maura drags Jane to yoga and hooks her up with a handsome fellow yogi.  Brenda Strong (Desperate Housewives) and Antonio Sabato Jr. (The Big Hit) guest-star.

“Born to Run” – Monday, Aug. 23, at 10 p.m. (ET/PT)
The Boston Marathon turns into a moving crime scene when a shooter begins targeting runners during the race.  Jane and Maura, who had planned to compete in the race, instead find themselves racing to catch the killer before another runner goes down.  The crowded and impassable city forces Jane and Maura to conduct their investigation on the ground and in secret so the hundreds of thousands of spectators don’t become casualties of a mass panic.  Balthazar Getty (Brothers & Sisters) guest-stars.

A body discovered in a park appears to be the work of Charles Hoyt, the imprisoned serial killer who once abducted and nearly murdered Jane.  As Maura tries to get inside the mind of the killer, Jane struggles to keep her fear of the one man who terrifies her in check.  Guest star Billy Burke (Twilight) returns as FBI Agent Gabriel Dean.

When an identity thief with no apparent identity of his own is found brutally murdered with an ice pick, the investigation leads Jane into Boston’s Irish-mob past.  A startling discovery about the victim sends Maura on a deeply personal quest.  Meanwhile, Frankie Jr. tries to help his dad add to his client base. Oscar? nominee Chazz Palminteri (Bullets Over Broadway) returns as Frank Rizzoli.  John Doman (Damages, The Wire) and Chris Coy (True Blood) guest star.

After an undercover cop working a narcotics-smuggling sting is shot dead, the killers next turn their sites on Boston homicide headquarters, leaving Jane, Maura and Frankie Jr. trapped in a fight for survival on their home turf.  It’s a situation that will force Maura to challenge herself like never before.  On the home front, Jane’s parents are excited that their oldest child, Tommy, is being released after serving time in prison.

Rizzoli & Isles, which is based on the crime novels by best-selling author Tess Gerritsen, stars Angie Harmon (Law & Order) as Boston detective Jane Rizzoli and Sasha Alexander (NCIS) as medical examiner Maura Isles.  These two close friends – and complete opposites – work together to solve crimes and bust some of Boston’s most notorious criminals.  Lorraine Bracco co-stars as Jane’s demanding and intrusive mother.  Rizzoli & Isles also stars Lee Thompson Young, Bruce McGill and Jordan Bridges.
