Fifty-two years ago, Top 40 radio was graced with a Miami cocktail lounge improv performance turned into a hit record, as “Why Can’t We Live Together” brought Timmy Thomas acclaim.
Now, the name Tim Thomas is back in the news, but this time it involves the acquisition of a group of radio stations in the Lowcountry of South Carolina.
WPIF-AM 1470 in Georgetown, S.C., accompanied by W266DG at 101.1 MHz; and WGTN-AM 1400 in Georgetown, which uses W298CO at 107.5 MHz as a simulcast partner, are being sold by Rod Stalvey‘s Waccamaw Broadcasting.
Thomas is the aforementioned buyer, and he’s paying $350,000 for the properties.
A $175,000 deposit has been made to Stalvey by Thomas. Terms include a tower lease agreement to be negotiated between buyer and seller.

Stalvey’s legal counsel in this transaction is M. Scott Johnson of Smithwick & Belendiuk.
