With Danny “Dan R” Ridenour serving as Operations Manager and News Director and a team of individuals behind the mics and in the front office for a group of four radio brands serving the Arkansas River Valley, “Heart of the Rockies Radio” has been regularly recognized by the Colorado Broadcasters Association with multiple Awards of Excellence.
Pending FCC approval, continuing that level of community service will be up to a new owner, as Three Eagles Communications is bidding farewell to the cluster.
With Frank Montero of Fletcher, Heald & Hildreth serving as the seller’s legal counsel, Three Eagles President Gary Buchanan has approved the sale of KBVC-FM in Buena Vista, KWUZ-FM in Poncha Springs and KVRH-FM in Salida, Colo.
The buyer is Highwater House Media LLC, a 50/50 partnership between Emily and Jake Rishavy.
In a separately filed transaction, KGKG-AM and K275CR at 102.9 in Salida are also being acquired by the Rishavys, with Headwaters Media LLC as the licensee selling those properties.
A single asset purchase agreement was electronically signed by Jake Rishavy, Buchanan and Headwaters Managing Member Kimberly Johnson.
The $1.75 million transaction assures local ownership for the stations, and a $50,000 earnest money deposit has been made to the seller.
Local attorney Nathan Lawrence represented the buyer.
For Three Eagles Communications, the sale marks the conclusion of a company formed thirty years ago by Rolland C. Johnson for the purpose of acquiring small to medium-sized radio operations in the Midwest and West. With its first acquisition in 1996, TEC grew to 49 radio stations across Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, and South Dakota.
