Tune to 97.9 MHz in the city of Raleigh, N.C., and you’ll hear hip-hop music.


It’s an FM translator tied to a 500-watt daytime-only AM station that barely reaches the Durham portion of the market.

Now, the AM and the FM translator are being sold by the university that has owned them to the entity that’s been operating the facilities.
