A Class D daytime-only AM radio station with 3 towers serving a large swath of Chicagoland, stretching from Madison, Wisc. to northwest Indiana, has had a long and varied history since signing on the air in 1965 as WCLR.
Since November 2003, this facility has been owned by Fred Eychaner’s Newsweb Radio Co., taking on various formats — most recently brokered religious programming.
In July, that programming was dropped and the station is on auto pilot. Why? The station’s tower site is being sold.
