Well, not really, and Best Buy stands to make a buck off of this, but it is also undeniably a public service from the electronics retailer. It’s putting together a 30-minute PSA which educates consumers on the upcoming DTV transition, in conjunction with the Minnesota Broadcasters Association and Apex Digital. It is available free to television stations nationwide through March 2009, and may be partially customized to bring local market elements into the program. It is called “DTV Simplified,” and details on acquiring and broadcasting the PSA should be available through state broadcaster associations.
