It is presently dark under FCC special temporary authority, and has been since February 28, when its owner blamed financial issues for the ability to keep the lights on. Now this dormant AM radio station serving Yuma, Ariz., is poised to return to life with its sale to “The Approval Coach.”
KBLU-AM 560 is being sold by El Dorado Broadcasters, led by Jason Wolff.
The buyer is one Derek Egeberg. He’s based in Yuma and is acquiring the station through Approval Coach Broadcasting.
KBLU is licensed for 1kw as a Class B AM radio station, and the buyer’s legal counsel — Mark Denbo of Smithwick & Belendiuk — submitted paperwork to the FCC including an asset purchase agreement dated June 4 for regulatory approval.
In it, terms spell out a $50,000 purchase price and a $10,000 cash deposit to El Dorado.
Egeberg is being given the right to negotiate a new tower lease at a monthly rate of $2,890.46, plus CAM of roughly $300 per month.
In Yuma, Egeberg has established himself as a home mortgage specialist.
