Go west of Austin, Tex., and you’ll reach Burnet, on the northern tip of what is considered “Hill Country” in the Lone Star State. It’s home to an FM translator at 102.1 MHz, and it has just been sold to a new owner, pending FCC approval.
The future points to sunny days ahead for the facility.
Richard Herring is selling K271BC in Burnet, which has been a KAJZ-FM “Smooth Jazz” simulcast partner in recent times.
The buyer is Recharge Media PBC, and it is paying $29,995 cash for the station.
A $5,000 deposit is being held by broker of record Cliff Gardner.
The buyer is led by Daryl O’Neal, who signed off on the asset purchase agreement dated January 8. This suggests that the regional Adult Alternative “Sun Radio” will be heading to the 102.1 MHz FM translator, as O’Neal is Director Emeritus of Sun Radio Foundation in addition to serving as Recharge Media’s CEO.
O’Neal served as Division President of Simmons Media Group from June 1998-April 2007.
