TEGNA Taps Armstrong’s Post-Retirement Successor in Idaho

MIAMI BEACH — After two decades at Idaho’s Newschannel 7Doug Armstrong will retire as President/GM of KTVB-7 in Boise, Idaho and KTFT-20 in Twin Falls, Idaho.


Who is Armstrong’s successor after his final day on March 9? TEGNA, the stations’ owner, just revealed the answer.

Tapped for the President/GM role is Kate Morris.

She is a graduate from the 2016-2017 TEGNA Executive Leadership program, and for the past seven years has served as KTVB’s Executive News Director.

“Kate is a proven leader with a demonstrated ability to develop quality content across numerous platforms. Her focus on community journalism, investigative reporting and commitment to the people of Idaho are significant assets that will support KTVB’s future growth,” said Lynn Beall, EVP/COO of Media Operations at TEGNA, in between NATPE Miami sessions. “We are excited that Kate is stepping into this role. She is the perfect choice to fulfill KTVB’s purpose to serve the greater good of the community through innovative and engaging storytelling.”
