The Writers Guild of America picket lines have claimed the Television Critics Association‘s Summer 2023 press tour, given the ongoing talk between the WGA and studios.
But, the TCA’s annual awards are still on schedule.
While the WGA strike is in its sixth week, a SAG-AFTRA strike authorization looms. As such, TCA members were told Friday that “even if the guilds and studios reach agreements in the coming weeks, we’ve come to the point at which it’s no longer feasible to organize the tour, never mind plan for our own travel.”
The TCA Awards, which recognize series and individual creatives across 11 categories, remain on track. Ballots will be distributed June 14 and must be submitted by June 23. Nominees will then be revealed, with June 30 the first day of voting. Voting concludes July 12; TCA Award winners will be named on August 7.
