She’s known as “Sweet Tea” on the Radio, is a native of Greenville, S.C., and has been entertaining country music listeners for over a decade. In fact, she currently hosts the afternoon shift on “Carolina Country,” a collection of four stations in Fayetteville and Wilmington, N.C., and in Georgetown and Myrtle Beach, S.C.
Now, Christy Andrulonis is gaining control of a South Carolina FM through her Sweet Tea Radio LLC. It involves Steve Clendenin, who held a different FM in the Carolinas that Sweet Tea gained control of until September 2023.
A “reciprocal option agreement” has been finalized that sees Sweet Tea take on the ownership of WGLD-FM 93.7 in Conway, S.C. from Maryland Media One LLC.
A $605,000 purchase price has been struck, and Ms. Andrulonis has agreed to pay this amount in full within five business days of initial FCC approval. Andrulonis has already assumed control of WGLD ahead of the closing date thanks to a Time Brokerage Agreement.
While Sweet Tea is officially buying WGLD from Maryland Media One, the Clendenin-led entity held a Promissory Note originally valued at $425,000 and restated in September 2023 with the Jeff Andrulonis-helmed Colonial Media + Entertainment.
At that time, Clendenin struck an arrangement with Christy Andrulonis allowing her to assume the license of WYAY-FM 106.3 in Bolivia, N.C., a station Clendenin had agreed to purchase from Colonial in a separate deal; Clendenin opted not to move forward with the purchase.
Now, Clendenin is taking a different path toward exiting ownership of WGLD.
