Spot Cable’s Summertime Mac Attack

0

Sure, the auto insurance category continues to rock at spot cable, with GEICO and Progressive dominating the latest Spot Ten Cable report from Media Monitors.

But, hey — it’s summer, and kids won’t start going back to school for at least a week (in Hawai’i) and two weeks in such locales as Palm Beach County, Fla. That makes it a prime time for QSRs to advertise, and spot cable was thriving with activity from three big fast food chains.

With GEICO and Progressive duking it out for the No. 1 spot by play count, Taco Bell takes the lead among quick-service restaurants using spot cable to connect with consumers. The Yum! Brands pseudo Tex-Mex chain leads the pack in its category, thanks to 38,098 spots placed at cable.

But, McDonald’s is closing in on the home of the Meximelt, with 35,800 spots pushing the Golden Arches to the fourth spot in the latest report.

Meanwhile, 29,044 spot plays are good enough for Burger King to settle in position No. 8 for the week ending July 29.
