A listener supported Christian-themed noncommercial radio station that has served North Central Ohio since 1979 is heading to a new owner.
As a result, the locally produced programming that had been a centerpiece of its programming has become a victim of these COVID-19 times. “Shine FM” is about to rise on the Class A facility boasting a pair of FM translator partners.
In a transaction posted by the FCC on Tuesday (9/15), WVMC-FM 90.7 in Mansfield, Ohio and FM translators W216AH in Ashland, Ohio and W247AN in Jefferson (Wooster), Ohio, are being spun by Mansfield Christian School to Soaring Eagle Productions.
That’s the entity behind Christian nonprofit Shine FM Ohio, which owns and operates Class A WKEN-FM in Kenton, Ohio and WSOH-FM 88.9 in Zanesville, Ohio, which carries a CP giving it Bellefontaine, Ohio city-grade coverage.
With the sale, Shine FM Ohio will now air on WVMC and the two translators.
The transaction is valued at $190,000. A $20,000 payment is due at closing, with the remainder being honored through a Promissory Note payable over a 56-month term.
