Sinclair ‘Watching The Headwinds’ As Revenue, EPS Dip

Given the exceptionally strong Q1 2022 performance for broadcast TV, fueled by record political advertising, it was no surprise that a year-over-year revenue decline for companies such as Sinclair Broadcast Group would be seen. The bigger question for analysts and investors would be whether or not “macroeconomic weakness” would impact core advertising in the months ahead.


For Sinclair, the answer to that question is yes. But, to what degree? EVP/CFO Lucy Rutishauser offered some answers while detailing the company’s first quarter results, which saw revenue come in slightly lower than the consensus estimate from analysts.
