He has been a researcher and writer for the Senior VP of News at Sinclair Broadcast Group for the past three years.
Now, he will be that C-Suite executive’s Chief of Staff — a position that appears to be unique to Sinclair.
According to e-mail communication sent by Scott Livingston, the SVP/News at Sinclair, to the News Directors at the company’s TV stations, Julian Baron will hold the Chief of Staff position.
“He will now work closely with the corporate news team and all of our news directors,” Livingston said, adding that he was impressed with Baron’s “dedication, passion and drive to learn the many aspects of what we do on a daily basis and what it takes to produce more impactful reporting on every platform.”
Baron will be based at Sinclair’s Hunt Valley headquarters in Baltimore.
The appointment was first reported by FTVLive.com, which notes that Baron’s duties could involve ensuring that all Sinclair-owned stations air specific news reports as determined by the corporate office.
Baron joined Sinclair in May 2019 from the Silver Spring-Takoma Thunderbolts, where he was the play-by-play announcer for the collegiate summer baseball team. He just graduated from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University.
