Cross-channel television and connected television advertising operation Simulmedia has brought in a new Chief Scientist, and it is a person known for his experience in media research, audience measurement and understanding data.

Taking the post is Jonathan Steuer, who Simulmedia says will play a critical role in the C-Suite alongside CEO Dave Morgan.

“As Chief Scientist, he will set the long-term vision and strategy for the company’s scientific efforts, ensuring Simulmedia remains at the forefront of machine learning, AI, and data-driven advertising innovations,” the company said. “Working closely with the Product, Engineering, and Data Science teams, Steuer will embed science-driven best practices across Simulmedia’s offerings, which include its flagship products TV+, Skybeam, and PlayerWON.”

Steuer is a former Chief Research Officer at Omnicom Media Group, where led the development of advanced TV measurement methodologies and delivered data-driven video investment strategies for some of the world’s largest advertisers. Most recently, he served as EVP of TV Strategy and Currency at VideoAmp, driving new cross-platform audience measurement standards and in advancing the development and adoption of alternative media currency solutions across the domestic TV ecosystem.

Steuer also recently co-authored two research papers for CIMM on the current and future state of the U.S. media and measurement ecosystem.

Earlier in his career, Steuer served as Chief Research Officer at TiVo, where he developed innovative methodologies for measuring time-shifted viewing and audience engagement. With a Ph.D. in Communication Theory and Research from Stanford University, Steuer also brings a deep academic foundation to his role, Simulmedia says.
