A 5kw Class B AM and its FM translator serving the capital city of Arkansas are being spun.
How much is Sima Birach earning from the sale of the facilities, and who is he selling them too?
A FCC filing shows KTUV-AM 1440 and FM translator K260DT at 96.9 MHz in Little Rock are heading to Crain Media Group.
That’s the Sherwood, Ark.-based operation led by Larry Crain.
With John C. Trent of Putbrese, Hunsacker & Trent as the legal counsel handling the deal, the media arm of Crain Investments is paying $300,000 to Birach Broadcasting Corp.
A 10% downpayment has been made by Crain. The remainder will be paid in cash at closing.
At present, KTUV and the FM translator air a Spanish-language format. Will that stay?
That’s up to Crain, who owns a major Hyundai dealership serving Little Rock and entered broadcast media ownership two decades ago.
In 2002, Crain had the opportunity to purchase Caldwell Broadcasting of Searcy. He renamed the Crain Media, and began operating three FM and three AM radio stations. Crain Media added a fourth FM station later in 2002.
Crain Media presently operates 7 FM radio stations throughout Central Arkansas.
